With the extensive use of mobile phones, computers and other electronic products, earphones have become an inseparable part of many young people’s lives. Men and women wearing headphones listening to music can be seen everywhere on the street, in buses, and in the subway. But how many people know or care about how headphones are produced in a headphone factory? Who is the contributor who brought us this invention?
In 1924, a German scientist Eugen Beyer (Eugen Beyer) opened an electronics company in Berlin, specializing in the research and development of “dynamic transducers” (dynamic transducers), and used the relevant technology in theaters. Speakers and other similar equipment. At that time, the young Bayer had always had a dream: how to deliver music to people’s ears in its original form? So he developed small speakers and fixed them on the curved hoop, so the world’s first earphone was born! On August 8, 1937, Bayer invited his friends to listen to the opera “Aida” in a fever room in Berlin. But when my friend came to the fever room, he saw only the record player, not the amplifier and speakers. Beside the record player, there was a metal arc-shaped monster lying quietly, with earmuffs on each end of the monster. Of course, you and I know that it is a headset. But to the people at the time, it was a UFO! Moreover, it can sing. In this historic day, people witnessed the birth of Beyerdynamic DT48 earphones, and created a world record, making a global sensation! In 1937, the DT48 launched by Beyerdynamic was the world’s first dynamic headset. DT is the abbreviation of Dynamic Telep. When DT48 was first invented, the word “headpone” did not exist. Mr. Baia called his invention “power phone”.
What is even more surprising is that the bandwidth of the DT48 earphone has reached the impressive specification of 16Hz to 20kHz. As far as the technical conditions of the 1930s are concerned, this indicator of the headset factory is simply unimaginable. The DT48 headset was called the Berlin brand at the time. Because of its amazing frequency response and analysis, the German intelligence services and Gestapo even used it to detect sounds that other headsets could not distinguish, and obtained a lot of valuable intelligence. In 1950, Beyerdynamic launched the world’s first stereo headset-DT48S, which once again made a sensation in the world and led the pack. What’s more interesting is that, more than 70 years later, Beyerdynamic still produces DT48 series earphones, but the earphone factory has switched to more advanced materials. This can be regarded as the headset with the longest sales history in the world.
Thanks to the invention of Jugen Bayer, it has promoted the development of the world art industry, so that we can better enjoy the wonderful music, and at the same time make our current life more colorful.
